Finding jackets that fit when you’re 5’2 (or under) can feel like a never-ending struggle. Sleeves are too long, hems hit at the wrong place, and proportions often drown a petite frame. That’s why I spent hours trying on 10 different jackets and coats from Mango, Quince, Loft, Abercrombie, and Aritzia—all in search of pieces that actually work for petites.
In this blog post, I am only including the pieces that I ended up keeping. To see the pieces I ended up returning, please watch my YouTube video.
Mango Cotton Cropped Jacket with Pockets

Jacket S | Jeans 27/4P | Bag | Shoes
This one instantly won me over. The fit is spot-on, and the hem hits right at my belly button—not too cropped, just enough to elongate the legs. The metallic buttons and collarless design make it look elegant, which means you can dress it up or down.
Fabric is 79% cotton, super breathable, and perfect for early fall. I styled it with ankle jeans and flats, but it also works beautifully with wide-leg bottoms.
👉 Petite tip: If sleeves run long on you, try sleeve adjuster clothing pins (under $5 on Amazon). They roll sleeves in seamlessly, making it look like part of the design.

Quince Italian Wool Tailored Coat

Coat S | Top S | Skirt S | Shoes
This coat is a gem for petites. At 47 inches long, it creates that long, unbroken vertical line we all love. The high waistline cinches at the perfect spot, balancing proportions beautifully.
Made with 80% Italian virgin wool, it feels high-end but comes at a fraction of the cost compared to J.Crew or Calvin Klein. A must-have if you live in colder climates and need something chic for dresses, skirts, or holiday parties.

Mango Wool-Blend Jacket with Maxi Lapels

Jacket S | Jeans 27/4P | Bag | Shoes
Thick, warm (57% wool), and definitely on-trend with its dropped shoulders and longer sleeves. The cropped body length helps balance out the oversized look, but the sleeves run long on me.
I love styling it with skirts for a leg-lengthening effect. Still debating whether to keep or return—what do you think?
Loft Petite Faux Leather Zip Jacket

Jacket S | Jeans 27/4P | Shoes
A leather jacket that doesn’t overwhelm petites? Yes, please. The collarless neckline and cropped hemline make it feminine and easy to style. It feels elegant rather than masculine, which is rare for faux leather.
I paired it with wide-leg jeans and 2-inch heels for extra length. Works equally well with dresses or layered over a high-neck sweater in colder weather.
Mango Classic Trench Coat with Belt

Coat S | Jeans 27/4P | Bag | Shoes
This one redeemed Mango for me. The defined shoulders and properly placed belt give the right proportions for petites. Hem hits just below the knees, which works best with pants and jeans.
The sleeve length is a little long on me (shorter arms, petite problems), but if you’re slightly taller, it could fit perfectly. Medium weight and fully lined—great for early fall.

Quince Double-Faced Merino Wool Soft Blazer

Blazer XS | Top S | Skort S | Bag | Shoes
At 100% double-faced merino wool, this jacket feels luxe and worth every penny at $160. It’s the longest of the bunch (27–28 inches), which normally isn’t ideal for petites—unless you’re styling it with shorter skirts.
Worn open with a monochromatic base, it elongates the frame beautifully. Bonus: the fabric is lightweight but seriously warm.
Abercrombie Cropped Trench Coat

Coat S | Jeans 27/4P | Bag | Shoes
Obsessed. This shorter trench hits right at my waist, giving maximum leg-lengthening power. It’s a lighter fabric compared to Mango’s version, which makes it perfect for transitional fall weather.
Fully lined and versatile, it pairs easily with jeans, trousers, or skirts. If you’re petite and looking for a trench, this one is a no-brainer.
Quince Responsible Down Cropped Puffer Jacket

Jacket S | Top S | Jeans 27/4P | Bag | Booties
If you live somewhere with freezing winters, this is the one. Made with 90% down and 10% feather, it’s incredibly warm but surprisingly lightweight and not bulky.
I love the thoughtful details—built-in gloves, secure zip pockets, and a hem that’s short enough to flatter but long enough to keep you warm. Comes in beautiful colors like oat milk, moss green, and charcoal gray.
Aritzia Acquire Tweed Jacket

Jacket S | Top S | Skirt S | Bag | Shoes
Hands down, the winner of the haul. The fit is perfection—cropped at 18 inches, tailored shoulders, and sleeves that hit just right. Tweed jackets have been trending for years, but this one feels timeless and insanely flattering.
I paired it with a maxi pencil skirt and mock-neck top, but it works with everything from jeans to trousers. The fabric (65% cotton) feels breathable yet structured. Yes, it’s pricier than some of the others, but it’s a versatile investment piece that goes with everything in my closet.
